BC: What inspired you to join this team and industry?
DB: I know the founders personally which really helped me to make the decision as I know how fantastic they are at what they do and also the culture they will help me drive into the business. Their honesty-first approach resonated with me. Having spent most of my career in i-gaming, I’m inspired by the diverse and interesting opportunities it offers. I have developed technology identifying customer risk in conversations and this opportunity aligns with my vision for how the industry should progress. This team’s passion, expertise and genuine care for the success of the businesses they work with made it a very easy decision.
BC: Can you describe your role in a nutshell?
DB: As CEO, I see my primary role as leading and supporting our company’s growth by seizing strategic opportunities and assisting the team to continue developing the business into a multi-faceted, trust-first, igaming compliance consultancy.
BC: Share a memorable moment from your career.
DB: A memorable moment from my career was working with an operator on the brink of extinction due to regulatory and operational hurdles. I helped them survive the initial night and reconfigure the business, which is now doing very well in the UK-regulated environment. This led to my other favourite moment which was launching Rdentify and taking on our first client to detect customer vulnerability in conversations. My findings from the first memorable moment directly led to the birth of Rdentify.
BC: What do you enjoy most about working with your team?
DB: They are also a really fun group to work with to be fair. They are super passionate about compliance and providing excellent service. I am always learning something new from them.
BC: What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?
DB: Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my children and friends. I love to socialise and go out. I also really enjoy sports, whether that is playing and watching. I am a big tech nerd and enjoy keeping up to date with the latest technology especially in VR and AR.
BC: What’s one thing people might not know about you?
DB: I am a really funny person.
BC: Share a piece of advice for new team members.
DB: Be proactive and always honest, keep a sense of humour and don’t take things too seriously whilst always providing incredible service.
BC: Describe your work style or approach to challenges.
DB: My work style is collaborative and results-oriented. I enjoy working with others to solve problems and to achieve common goals. When faced with a challenge, I first try to understand the root cause of the problem. Once I understand the root cause, I can develop a plan to address it.
BC: What motivates and drives you in your role?
DB: I am motivated by the challenge of helping businesses to comply with complex regulations and to protect their customers. I am primarily motivated by the opportunity to make a positive impact on the igaming industry.
BC: Any future goals or aspirations within the company?
DB: My future goal is to expand BetComply into new markets and to continue to develop innovative solutions to help businesses comply with regulations and protect their customers. We want to become a household name, at least within our industry!
BC: What’s your favourite part of the company culture?
DB: Tough one, but I think my favourite part of the company culture is the focus on collaboration and innovation. We are a team of experts who are passionate about compliance and making a difference in the igaming industry. A lot of consultancies don’t take the time to understand their clients properly and really establish what they require, we pride ourselves on doing precisely this.
BC: How do you maintain work-life balance?
DB: It can be challenging, but it is important to me. I try to set boundaries between work and personal time. I have two young children and it’s hugely important to me that I give them one hundred percent. Time flies and you only get one chance with kids. I also play sports and commit my time to this.
