There is no shortage of compliance experience in iGaming. But when operators are choosing an iGaming compliance partner, not all experience is the same.
Working in highly regulated gambling markets brings a different level of challenge. The expectations are higher, scrutiny is greater and operators need to think about far more than simply securing a gambling licence.
At BetComply, we’ve built much of our iGaming compliance and licensing experience in markets such as the UK, the Netherlands, and Germany. These three jurisdictions are very different, but all have demanding regulatory frameworks and high expectations for the operators working within them.
That experience has shaped the way we work with clients today.
iGaming licensing is only the start
Licensing is obviously a big part of entering any regulated gambling market. You have applications to prepare, policies to write, technical requirements to meet, and plenty of questions to answer along the way. But securing the licence is only part of the challenge.
The bigger job is making sure the business behind that licence is ready to operate compliantly from day one and can continue to do so as regulations, guidance, and regulatory expectations change.
That’s particularly true in mature, highly regulated markets. The UK remains one of the world’s most established regulated online gambling markets, with detailed requirements covering areas including AML, safer gambling, customer interactions, financial vulnerability and marketing. The regulated Dutch iGaming market has its own demanding requirements around player protection, duty of care, AML, advertising and ongoing operational compliance. Germany brings another layer of complexity, with strict requirements covering player protection, technical compliance, advertising and how online gambling products can be offered.
Each market is different. Each has its own rules, regulator and way of doing things. You can’t approach markets like these as a box-ticking exercise. You need to understand how the regulation translates into the day-to-day operation of an actual gambling business. That’s where experience matters.
You learn a lot by actually doing the work
There is a big difference between knowing what the regulation says and knowing how it works in practice.
When you’ve worked through licence applications, regulatory changes, audits and ongoing compliance requirements with operators, you start to understand where the difficult questions are likely to come from. You know which areas need more attention. You understand where businesses can get caught out. And you get better at spotting potential problems before they become regulatory problems.
That’s knowledge you don’t get simply from reading the regulations.
It comes from doing the work.
Compliance experience across regulated gambling markets
One benefit of working across multiple jurisdictions is how much knowledge you carry with you. Every regulated market is different. No universal compliance template can be copied from one country to another, and it shouldn’t be. But experience gained in demanding regulatory environments creates a very strong foundation.
If you’ve spent years helping operators meet high standards in governance, AML, player protection, technical compliance, and regulatory reporting, you bring that mindset to the next market.
You know the questions to ask. You know which parts of an operation need closer scrutiny. And you know that getting it right at the beginning is usually much easier than fixing it once the business is live.
For operators expanding internationally, that experience can make a significant difference.
We’re not licence sellers
This is also why we’ve never seen BetComply as a business that simply sells licences. Of course, we help operators with iGaming licensing and market entry. It’s an important part of what we do. But our job doesn’t finish when a regulator says yes.
We work with clients before, during, and after market entry, supporting them with regulatory compliance, technical compliance, and the ongoing requirements of operating in regulated gambling markets.
Sometimes that means preparing an operator for a completely new market. Sometimes it’s helping an established business understand and implement a new regulatory requirement. And sometimes it’s simply being there when an internal compliance team needs another experienced pair of eyes on something.
We want to build long-term relationships with the operators we work with, rather than simply deliver a licence and move on to the next application.
Trust has to come from somewhere
Every compliance consultancy can claim experience. Every business can say it is trusted.
We’d rather point to the work.
BetComply’s team has built its expertise working across some of iGaming’s most demanding regulated markets and alongside operators meeting those requirements every day. Today, we support businesses across more than 40 markets, from established regulated jurisdictions to markets preparing for their next stage of regulation. That breadth is useful, but the depth behind it matters more. Because when an operator asks us to help them enter a new market or manage a difficult compliance challenge, they’re not just buying a licence application or a piece of documentation.
They’re getting the experience our team has built from doing this work again and again.
For some of the biggest names in iGaming, that’s why BetComply has become a compliance partner they trust.
